questions

question of the day: Has the DC Comics reboot gone too far?

Mon, Oct 03, 2011
no comments yet

Apparently DC is drawing fire for sexist and ableist reboots of fan-favorite characters…

question of the weekend: The U.S. is executing its own citizens without even a pretense of due process: what’s next?

Sat, Oct 01, 2011

Anwar al-Awlaki was Muslim and brown, and he said bad things about the U.S., and hence he was scary and automatically guilty of something so terrible that the otherwise sacred Constitution could be ignored.

question of the day: Google is guessing at the sexual orientation of celebs — is this weird?

Fri, Sep 30, 2011
no comments yet

Google isn’t revealing any secrets, it’s just summarizing the conversation about a celebrity. But why suddenly make a special point of summarizing so succinctly about this particular aspect of a person’s life?

question of the day: If you had to pay for your own 3D glasses, would that change your decision to see a 3D movie?

Thu, Sep 29, 2011
no comments yet

If you’re not already shelling out extra for a 3D showing of a new film, it’s unlikely that having to pay even more will change your mind about that. But it’s easy to see how an extra extra charge would discourage some from 3D screenings…

question of the day: What movie that no one else seems to like very much has moved you?

Have at it.

question of the day: What automatically turns you off in a movie trailer?

Tue, Sep 27, 2011

I hate a trailer for a rom-com or a chick flick — which is intended to appeal to women — in which women act like morons.

question of the day: What’s the best movie with the worst title?

Mon, Sep 26, 2011
no comments yet

Have a movie you love — or even hate — that has a title that is completely inappropriate and bears no relationship at all with the content of the flick?

question of the weekend: How do you feel about pets in bars and restaurants?

Sat, Sep 24, 2011
no comments yet

I like the hominess of a place that allows dogs… and I like a pub or bar or eating establishment that is home to its own resident animals.

question of the day: Are Hollywood superhero stories American wish-fulfillment fantasies?

Fri, Sep 23, 2011
no comments yet

Does the glut of superhero movies coming our way represent a subconscious desire for an America gone wrong to right itself again?

question of the day: Do you think it’s weird when a character has the same name as the actor playing the role?

Thu, Sep 22, 2011
no comments yet

I always think, What the hell is this? He can’t remember to respond to a different name?
