trailer break: ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ final trailer

Take a break from work: watch a trailer...

(more below the ad... scroll down...)

We’re getting real close to this one, at last. Seems like we’ve been waiting forever. Oh yeah: we have. We were supposed to get this last November. Now, of course, the DVD will be the hot giftie for Christmas 2009. Talk about magic: J.K. Rowling and Warner Bros. might as well have a spell that conjures up money.

I love how dark the trailer makes the film look. I’ll be very interested to see if the actual movie can possibly maintain that kind of darkness, especially with a PG rating.

Lots of the Muggle world in this one! Though I walked across the Millennium Bridge in February and saw no evidence of wizard activity:

Love the Tube ad behind Dumbledore:

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince opens in the U.S. and the U.K. on July 15.

So excited!!

This is PG? Wasn't Order PG-13? Some Exec must have decided that they had to go back to PG...for the kiddies, ya know.
The trailers don't appear to be advertising a PG movie, but whatever. Rating aside, the trailers sure get me excited for it. I wonder, though...
Are we getting the next one this November, like "they" said back when this was pushed back? Haven't heard anything.

Wow! I wonder what happens...

According to IMDB the next one will be November 2010 and the last one July 2011. A mere two years of waiting to see how they wrap up the movie version of the story. Can hardly wait for this one, however! Bring it on!

Markyd, what makes a PG-13 now is different from what it was just 2 years ago oddly. It really comes down to how much sexual content is in the film. Look at how Dark Knight was for instance. How did it get a PG-13 rating?

Anyway, I'm not concerned about the darkness. We know that most of the Book is actually pretty light. I'm more worried about whether the film will feel cohesive with the flashbacks and the multiple story lines. I also wasn't a fan of Hooper's score in OotP and I think it really took away from that film. I really hope he pulled it off for HBP, but I'm hoping John Williams returns for Deathly Hallows.

Yeah, I remember right after seeing it thinking DK should have been an R movie. After viewing it again at home, though, I agreed with the PG-13.
I suppose there have been "dark" PG movies before, especially before the introduction of PG-13(Gremlins, Poltergeist, anyone?) I guess no blood + no sex = PG, regardless of tone. Whatever.
I don't recall any part of Orders score, but I would certainly welcome Williams back.

I just read the first "review" by Paul Dergarabedian on his hollywood.com blog, and he goes so far as to suggest it's Oscar worthy (like 1 of the 10 best worthy). Now, I don't know anything about Dergarabedian, whether he is a credible reviewer or not, but he has been in the industry for 16 years, so his opinion can't be total crap. This has me feeling pretty good (even though it's only one guy's opinion).

After seeing some pretty bad movies this summer, and reading reviews of some up-coming ones, I'm convinced that WB made a genius decision to move this film. If HBP is good, and I mean better than OotP good, it could dominate the rest of the summer. Other than Bruno and Public Enemies (which will be out for 2 weeks by then), what other competition does it have? Besides those films are both R, so HBP target audience can't see those films anyway. GI Joe will bomb. Unless there is some surprises, if this film is good, HBP could stay #1 for a month.
