I hope you’re all still popping over to Film.com to read my stuff there once in a while, because there’s a lot going on there that you’re missing if you’re only reading me here.
I’ve started thinking about loud about the insanity of this time of year, on a film critic’s calendar, when there’s a ton of movies opening and I’m trying to catch as many as I can while simultaneously attempting to anticipate which ones might have a shot at ending up on my year-end best-of lists. So I’ve been running down what films I’m seeing each day, a kind of preview of my expectations and fears for each film. That’ll continue all through this week, by the end of which I will have seen almost everything I need to see. (Last week I saw nine movies; this week it’ll be at least seven, plus other films on both commercial DVDs and screeners sent by the studios hoping for my awards-season consideration.)
And I’m still doing all the usual stuff that has become instant tradition for me at Film.com: a look at the weekend box office, commentary on industry news, discussing memes in the movie zeitgeist, chatting about what’s on TV, the weekly TiVo This!, and more.
All my reviews are still appearing here at FlickFilosopher.com, but there’s more to movies than just reviews. So please do stop on it at Film.com once in a while. And while we wait for them to open up commenting, feel free to use this thread to talk about what I’ve been doing over there.
