Man, this week keeps getting crazier…
Why? Why why why why why? Was the world crying out for a movie version of Alvin and the Chipmunks [opens December 14]? Is Jason Lee really this desperate? The mysteries confound my mind. Oh well… it’ll kill some time on Saturday morning before the annual St. Lucia’s Day party my friend and creative pal Bonnie-Ann Black throws. (I get to play Lucia.)
Finally heard about a screening of I Am Legend [opens December 14]. End-of-the-world stuff rocks my little world, even when it sucks. Which I hope this won’t. I love Will Smith, anyway — he’s so effortlessly charismatic onscreen that it usually feels like the movies were invented for him.
In The Bucket List [opens December 25], Rob Reiner directs Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman as, apparently, old coots on the verge of kicking the bucket. Looks like the Christmas Day counterprogramming to the Alien vs. Predator sequel opening that same day.
