Britain’s oldest married couple are movie fans

Frank, 100, and Anita, 99, today celebrate their 80th wedding anniversary, equalling the record for England’s longest-ever marriage….

The pair met in 1926 at a YMCA dance in their home town of Plymouth. They married two years later, on May 26, 1928, and after the register office ceremony popped to the cinema to catch a Charlie Chaplin film.

*sigh*…there are no longer marriages like this. nowadays, five years is a long time to stay together…

again, with the generalizations. my parents met when they were very young and are still together through thick and thin. almost every friend or acquaintance of mine in their 30s and 40s have been married for 20 years and more. believing every statistic you come across regarding the current state of matrimony and relationships in trashy magazines can only cause your cynicism.
