5 reasons I’m psyched for ‘Zack and Miri Make a Porno’

All this week! 5 movies I’m psyched for in October, and 5 reasons why. No. 3: Zack and Miri Make a Porno [opens wide October 31].
1. Kevin Smith. He’s GenX’s bard: no one understands us better than he does, and no one tells stories about us that speak to us like he does.

2. The trailer makes it look like this could be the movie that makes me like Seth Rogen. And I’d love for that to happen — I love to be proven wrong.

3. Elizabeth Banks as Miri. I’ve been waiting for her to break out as a big star since I first noticed her in Seabiscuit five years ago. Maybe this is her moment.

4. A sweet-faced comedy about porn? Even if it fails, the audacity of it could be worth celebrating.

5. That poster (above). It’s a brilliant bit of snarky marketing, and it bodes well for a snarky attitude for the film.

I have not seen either film, but going by the trailers it actually put me in mind of an American version of “I Want Candy”.
