‘High School Musical’ makes me feel old

So I’m watching High School Musical 3 last night, and I’m thinking, Hey, that Troy kid is really cute. And then I went, Hey, Troy’s dad is even cuter. And then I realized that all the actors playing the parents of all the high-schoolers are, like, my age. And I felt old.

And I just discovered that the actor playing Troy’s dad is actually a year and a half younger than me. Now I feel really old.

They probably made the actor look older than he is by make-up. I mean, what do you think how old 38 old women felt when “The Graduate” came out and afterwards realized that the mother of the college girl was two years younger than them?

It’s very kind of you to say so, but no, they didn’t. :->

I feel your pain. I used to get bothered by the fact that college freshman were born the same year that Return of the Jedi came out. NOW those same people are 25!

(Why, Space-Time Continuum, must you pain me so?)

hey isn’t the actor playing troy’s dad the same guy that was the lead in the crappy “Viva Laughlin” Blackpool rip-off that was on last year?

I’m waiting for “High School 20th Year Reunion Musical to come out.” I’d only be two years too old for that one.

Hell, I’m three months older than Osama bin Ladin…and I saw the Star Wars premiere on my honeymoon!

If the sensible guy is elected, I’ll be older than the next US president.

I was born in the same year as this year’s Democratic Presidental Candidate.

I feel your pain, MaryAnn.

For what it’s worth, my 7-year-old niece loves High School Musical so I guess that audience is supposed to skew toward the younger set.

And frankly, I went through a similar trauma when I realized I was more attracted to Jackie Tyler than Rose Tyler. Though at my age, it would be weird if it was the other way around.

Yeah, a 38 year old actor playing the dad of a high school senior. What, did he have that kid when he was 20?

You say that like it’s a terribly unusual thing, Mathias.
