today is my 41st birthday…

…which means I’m actually entering my 42nd year.

I just want to know this: Can I expect the ultimate answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything anywhere, anytime along the road this coming year? Or do I have to wait till my actual 42nd birthday for the wisdom to be bestowed upon me?

I just don’t want to be holding my breath and getting all tingly with anticipation all year if there’s no point. That would be too exhausting to maintain.

Well, I didn’t discover it after my 42nd birthday, but at least I wasn’t crucified after my 33rd one, either. It all works out.

Dangnabbit — a happy birthday to you (the same day as my dad’s — great people born on this day, apparently), and best wishes for a fabulous year ahead!

Happy Birthday. I know your post is facetious, but I’ll answer as if it wasn’t. I’m only 35, but I already know that there is no answer to everything, nor will there ever be. The only meaning to our existence is what we make of it ourselves. In the grand scheme of things we are but specks of dust. Worthless, really.
Your welcome, for the encouraging words.

Yes, you probably will! Take it from a 52 year old, 41+ is about when you will figure it all out.

But, when you do, do you really think it makes any difference?

Happy Birthday! Wishing you many happy returns of the day.

No idea about the wisdom part; although I’ve gained quite a bit in my 42nd year, it’s been hard won. One of those cases of ‘be careful what you wish for’ maybe?

Many happy returns! If I see large yellow spaceships blocking the sky around this time next year, I will check your site immediately to see if you’ve gotten the answer yet. Then I’ll head to the pub.

The answer is “no” and “it won’t happen even then”.

The fun is when your 42nd birthday arrives, you commence spending a year telling people that you are the answer to life, the universe, and everything. ;)

Happy birthday!

Happy Birthday MaryAnn!!

I wouldn’t hold your breath for the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything. I didn’t find it at 42. Since I’m less than a month from my 44th, it wasn’t all that long ago. However, every year we do learn a bunch of stuff, which may not seem like much each year, but it does add up.

Hope you have a wonderful day and have many more birthdays to come. Cheers!

Hartelijk gefeliciteerd, MaryAnn! (from the Netherlands)

Like others above, not so sure about the wisdom bit though. I’ll be turning fifty next year and I still feel pretty immature and ignorant in many ways. But perhaps that’s a good thing.

Happy Birthday! I sent you some good vibes from the B-52s concert I attended tonight.

This isn’t a stab at “meaning” exactly; but if you need your mind blown, this simple idea usually does it for me:
