question of the day: Who is the greatest British filmmaker working today?

As the obvious followup to Friday’s QOTD — about great American filmmakers — and as a corollary to the Guardian’s new list of most powerful people in British film:

Who is the greatest British filmmaker working today?

The highest-ranking Brit on the Guardian’s new list is Christopher Nolan, director of, most recently, Inception. Does “powerful” equal “greatest” in this instance? If not Nolan, who?

(If you have a suggestion for a QOTD, feel free to email me. Responses to this QOTD sent by email will be ignored; please post your responses here.)
