I was looking for 5,000 subscribers by October 1. I got 318. I think we can qualify the subscription drive as a humiliating disappointment.
I’m enormously grateful to those 318 subscribers, of course. Alas that the sum of their subscriptions can barely make a dent in the financial hole my work on this site leaves me in month after month.
One last push: I’ve got piles of stuff to give away to subscribers — new DVDs, vintage CDs, geek paraphernalia — and the cutoff for getting in on snagging one of those goodies is Monday, October 4, 11:59pm Eastern time.
