It happens once in a while that Disqus will flag a legitimate comment as spam, but I only just discovered that it’s happening far more often than I realized, and that I’ve been falling down on the job in approving them. Sorry.
I think I’ve fixed things so that the notifications about those flagged comments will be more prominent, so I can act on them immediately. (Disqus refuses to send me only notifications of posted comments that have been flagged by readers, or of comments that have been tagged as spam and might need approval. If you want to get those notifications, you have to take notifications as well of every comment posted. Which is a lot on a site like this, so those comments I need to take action on have been getting lost in the mix.)
Disqus will allow me to whitelist commenters so their comments are posted immediately, even if Disqus might otherwise flag them as spam and hold them back for my approval. I’m going to get moving on whitelisting all subscribers. So now might be a good time to subscribe if you haven’t already done so. See the links in the lefthand column. If you’d like to subscribe at $5 or $10 per month, you’ll find links for those levels at the bottom of this post. If you’d like to subscribe in an amount other than $1, $5, or $10 per month, let me know, and I’ll whip up some links for you.

Hi, I saw that one of my comments has been flagged. And I really wonder which comment it was. Is there any possibility to see which comment has been flagged in the past? I always get emails when a new comment has been made, but I never received one for my flagged comment. I need help. Is there a special site for it?
If you open up your Disqus profile and look at your recent activity, there may be a note next to the comment that was flagged.
I searched for it but there is no note…but thank you for your reply. Does anybody else know something?
Flagging is really for the benefit of moderators. You may have gotten flagged as a mistake, or maliciously. (This sort of flagging is something other readers do — it doesn’t mean your comment has been tagged as spam.)
As moderator, I can see that you’ve received one flag, but I can’t see which comment it is. It does appear that you’ve only posted two comments at this site (neither of which has been flagged), so perhaps if you can narrow down which site your flagged comment appears on, that might help you figure out why you might have been flagged.
Hello MaryAnn Johanson. Thank you for your reply. I was searching the internet for this topic and I found this site. That’s why I only left two comments here until now. : )
I am searching madly for the site including my flagged comment but I can’t seem to find it. It’s just a bad feeling to see that one of my comments has been flagged, cause I think that I always comment on post appropriate…
That’s what I’m talking about. Disqus is being invaded by a whole troop of liberals who hate Republicans or conservatives in General. Comments are being deleted by a supposedly Smarter Autobot Mod…. that’s destroying Disqus right now…. like Google, Facebook, Amazon, etc Corporate Liberals are doing today as well!
Our users are getting blocked by disqus messages when they try to input data into comments for ABC news. All users are affected by this but not with any other sites. Would this be because of an issue between ABC and Disqus. Do they lease or have to pay a fee to Discus? Our art department however can get through but they have a different ISP provider. So what can cause this. There are options we have but I am hoping for an easier option rather than moving our network over to their side. Thanks for any assistance.
ok
No, it doesn’t.
You are factually wrong. Now stop cluttering up my comments threads.
He’s actually right. More recently we’re seeing Spam stay posted until someone reports it many times. Meanwhile Disqus is deletting good comments as spam automatically. I know it’s Disqus, because the little note they are posting “Detected as Spam”, when they obviously are not.
Recently I was asked about my Vietnam service and I responded and each time my good comments explaining myself as a four Combat Tour Veteran were getting deleted…. and they didn’t have links in them even!!!
Every thing I post is detected as spam.
I read news articles on many web sites, even if I go to a site I have never visited before, it gets instantly “detected as spam Thanks, we’ll work on getting this corrected.
Who is we (we’ll work on…)?
Is it Disqus or the website I am posting to?
How do I get my comments not marked as spam?
This was flagged as spam but I approved it.
It’s Disqus that has to “work on” the issue. Disqus says that you have a “low rep” You’d need to talk to them to figure out how that happened and how you can fix it.
Thanks for the info.
I am not sure what you mean by low rep.
I do not use social accounts. I only have Disqus to comment on news sites. I do not have a Twitter, Face Book, Google, or any other account that lets me post comments.
The previous post on this site is the only one that has not been “detected as spam.
Thanks again.

No, it *was* flagged as spam. I approved it.
Someone on Disqus have become as bad as Twitter, Facebook, Amazon and other Liberal sites at killing conservative comments. It’s obvious Liberals are still upset over Trump Winning and Hillary losing!
Truth is I had extremely high upvote counts and that account got not only banned but every comment deleted. I’d had that account for 8 yrs and like I said…. it was a top upvoted account. I instantly saw every comment I’d made deleted. Which I suspect was because I am more conservative and not a liberal.
So I opened another and now I so many comments getting deleted…. meaning removed automatically by that supposedly smarter Autobot Mod as SPAM!! …..that without even posting a link or spewing any kind of hate…. like I see get posted everywhere!
I was at the end of a discussion with ‘farfaraway’ concerning actor James Woods in an article on Mediaite when I realized my comment wasn’t being responded to. I checked on it and saw that my comment, at first, was ‘waiting to be approved’ (my other replies in that thread to him had quickly gone thru). After still no notice from Disqus I checked again and further found that the comment had been ‘detected as spam’. I clicked ‘this is not spam’ and ‘we’ll do our best to correct it’ appeared. Close to a week later it’s still there. My questions are 1) WHY would it be detected as spam? and 2) did my co-respondent ‘farfaraway’ ever receive my blistering reply to him?
My comments have been marked as spam without a good reason.
Not by me, they haven’t. Have you tried raising the issue with Disqus?
How do you do that with Disqus? They have no way of responding accompanying every time they delete my comments for being spam (about 30% of the time now)!
Disqus does not delete comments. The moderators at each site do.
Just FYI, I deleted all your other comments in this thread because they are off topic and full of conspiracy-theory ranting. I also banned you.
The problem has recently taken on a whole new meaning. I’ve never had a problem with having comments deleted until one site’s Mods banned me and deleted all my comments with high ratings even. It’s like someone doesn’t like conservatives like me. So they are going around and reporting comments till they get them banned or most likely planting mods into forums. Who then work to modify Automated Modding of Forums to exclude anyone with my point of view.
I opened another account and as soon as it’s seen that I’m of a conservative view I’m getting comments deleted as spam and mainly it’s for links showing that Point of View. Look at your link? It passed their supposedly smarter Auto Bot Modding technology it’s showing a more liberal view.
My comments and accounts aren’t being deleted for profanity or any other reason. Only SPAM!!!
