it’s not like no one is reading this site…

This is what I’ve been telling myself over the past months, as I figure out what the hell the future of my work as a pop culture curator, film expert, and Doctor Who guru is to be.

It’s not like no one is reading FlickFilosopher.com.
If, after 14 years online, I had only a dribble of readers, it would make perfect sense that the thing to do is, clearly, to give up the site and move on to something else. Anything else would be insane. How long do you bang your head against a wall before you hear the universe telling you to stop and move on?

If no one was reading the site, now would be the time to shutter it, when I can no longer run it without making a living at it.

But that’s not the case. Lots and lots of people are reading this site. Lots and lots of people participate in the vibrant community here… far more so than we see at most other movie-review sites, and a much higher level of conversation than we see around the Web.

There has got to be value in that. Real, concrete value.

You are the people who will tell me that there is value in what we have here, by subscribing at only $1 per month (or more if you’re so inclined).

Or will you tell me, by not subscribing, that there is no value here.

I hope it is not the case that there’s no value, but if that’s what it is, I need know that, so I turn aside from my foolishness here and find something else valuable to do.

Thank you.
