words from Steven Moffat that could fix Hollywood (and almost anything that can be called entertainment or art)

Steven Moffat, Doctor Who showrunner and head writer, said something so deliciously simple and so wonderfully profound at the Doctor Who panel at the U.S. Television Critics Association summer press tour that I must highlight it here. He was speaking about Doctor Who, but this doesn’t apply only to Doctor Who. It applies to TV on the whole. And film. And fiction. And videogames. And painting. And music. And every damn creative endeavor we can indulge in.
He said this:

Tradition is the enemy of suspense. It’s the enemy of comedy. It’s the enemy of everything.

This this this. A million times this.
