London photo of the day: letting it all hang out

clothing air dryer
True fact: electric clothing driers are nowhere near as common in the U.K. as they are in the U.S. I’d guess that many more apartment dwellers have washing machines in their flats in London than is the case in New York (I always had to take my laundry out to a landromat) — though I bet the percentage of houses with washing machines is probably similar in both countries. But an accompanying clothes drier is a comparative rarity. So clothes and linens are hung up to dry.

This is the new air dryer I just purchased via Amazon, and with which I am exceedingly pleased. Actually far more pleased than a simple household device should make me.

Of course, in the nicer weather, this rack can join the standing clothesline outside, to catch all the lovely sun and warm breezes.
