Warner Bros. Move Forward On Live-Action Adaptation Of THE JETSONS
The big screen adaptation of classic ’60s Hanna-Barbera ‘toon THE JETSONS is once again in active development, with today’s announcement that Warner Bros. have hired two new screenwriters to re-shape the live-action project.
Newcomers Van Robichaux and Evan Susser, hot off a buzz-worthy Black List script last year, have been tasked with updating the previously produced draft of the potential franchise-starter written by FANBOYS scribe Adam F. Goldberg.
It’s at least comforting that Warner Bros. are actually looking to talented writers to work on a movie such as this, because let’s face it they don’t have to. The visual potential of the concept alone will ensure this has an audience and huge box-office potential, but what’s spectacle without story?
I’m not comforted.
Is there any way in hell that a live-action Jetsons movie won’t suck hyperdrive fumes?
Is there a cast that could make this work? (I dread seeing Kevin James as George Jetson.) Is there a story that could work? Is there an attitude that could work? Or we totally doomed?
