the BBC thinks women can’t be geeks (and other adventures in social networking)

What my followers on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ saw today:
• The BBC thinks women can’t be geeks. Check out the caption on this photo: “Women – not geeks – are Pinterest’s early adopters.” *argh* Pinterest – hot new network or another Quora?

• Not written or directed by Charles Dickens, though that would be awesome… Earliest Dickens film discovered

• Articles like this one drive me insane: it bashes critics without even realizing what critics have said, ie, that 50% of critics on Rotten Tomatoes *like* the film. Should we ignore them, too? Ignore The Critics: ‘John Carter’ Is Fantastic

• Because we should never let politics, human rights, or other nonsense taint the comics page… Some newspapers won’t be running next week’s “Doonesbury” strips
