The Hole (trailer)


Soon as I heard, at some point last year, that Joe Dante had directed a film that was already on DVD in the U.K. [Amazon U.K.] but had never even gotten a theatrical release in North America, I was of course intrigued. I still haven’t had a chance to catch up with it, but I’ll try to soon, because The Hole is finally getting a release in the U.S. An extremely limited release — a few screens around Atlanta and one in Los Angeles, according to the film’s official site — but it’ll be released on DVD next week [Amazon U.S.] [Amazon Canada]. (See EW’s Inside Movies for an interview with Dante that explains the holdup with the North American release.)

Anyway, the film itself looks like an 80s throwback, which could be good or bad, with Bruce Dern as Doc Brown:
