is VOD the new direct-to-DVD? (and other adventures in social networking)

What my followers on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ saw today:
• There isn’t one single thing said here that hasn’t been covered numerous times before elsewhere online, and not one single thing about who is going to pay all the critics that the NYT tells us we do still need. Do We Need Professional Critics?

• Is VOD the new direct-to-DVD? Or a good alternative to having your film play on only one screen in NYC and another in LA? (I vote the latter.) Now playing at a living room near you
