Though this looks like some little kid’s idea of a city skyline, this is a real view from Thameside near London Bridge station.

The mish-mash of architectural styles is a tad jarring.
I can’t help but expect Godzilla to pop up in the middle of that…
You mean Gorgo! Pfft, and you call yourself a movie reviewer…
That’s not “jarring” that you’re feeling, that’s “inspiration” :-)
Take a look at the house at Bletchley Park some time!
I walked over Waterloo Bridge tonight, from the Strand back to, err, Waterloo. The view looks as if aliens have stolen all the world’s most iconic buildings and replanted them in impossible proximity in some ginormous galactic museum display. I’m sure Philip K Dick wrote a story about this!
In particular, St Paul’s Cathedral is illuminated such that it looks as if it is a really, really bad CGI fake building (probably because the aliens accidentally broke the original, real cathedral).
Didn’t that happen at the end of Lifeforce?
the scene is on coney island beach. a few years back we elected a supervillain as mayor of new york and he stole all those buldings and brought them to brooklyn.
