And here’s the punchline to yesterday’s photo: the faux explanation added by some modern wag next to the bridge designs informing the passerby how the bridge design was chosen. (Argos — the initial “A” is missing here — is a catalogue shop selling low-end household merchandise.)

To be fair, Ikea’s flat-pack bridges have improved dramatically since then.
