It’s running on an American time zone plus an offset, rather than on a British/European time zone.
I fucking hate this new (and to me it is STILL new) schedule for Daylight Savings Time. I’d love to live somewhere it stays Standard Time always. I like the sunny early mornings. Grrrr. Another thing to blame on George W. Bush.
Here in boston, the sun would rise at 4:07 am in June without DST. For my cousins in Newfoundland, sunrise would be at 3:59. Early enough for you? :-)

When I was in the north of Scotland, there was only about 2 hours of darkness around the summer solstice…Daylight Savings can’t solve all problems. Shortening winter just accentuates the emotional effect of climate change for me.
Daylight Saving is predicated on the idea that everyone should be going to work or school at the same time. Which is a remarkably bad idea in itself.
(Changing the start time in the US, to “save energy”, ended up using rather more. Not to mention all the computers that had to be updated.)

The one good thing about the living in Arizona: no DST. That was nice,

Yeah, I knew that. :-> It still feels weird.
