Perhaps lescarr was referring to your being a New Yorker living in New York (i.e. an invader, at some historic point), rather than your being a New Yorker in the UK?

Actually, I’m more concerned that he thinks one sleeps and eats while on guard duty…I thought one, you know, guarded. (After all, of course he thinks he’s in Rome! It was an Imperial army.)
