Scottish Borders photo of the day: Walter Scott slept here

Scott's View

Well, I don’t know for sure if he slept here. But I bet he napped here once in a while. This is Scott’s View, looking down onto the River Tweed and off into the Eildon Hills in the distance. Legend has it that Walter Scott was so inspired by this view — which is indeed spectacular — and came here so often that his horses would turn into the road leading here automatically if they happened to be passing. Except for a few cell and TV towers on the hilltops, the view probably hasn’t changed much since he hung out here.
