game of thrones hardcovers are particularly effective when thrown. omnibus editions of shakespeare can do a lot of damage, but are strictly short range.

Are you kidding? Nothing can top a well-thrown Norman Mailer paperweight. Not as unwieldy as a volume of the OED, but just as heavy and five times as ponderous.
