Doctor Who thing: the notion of sleeping with the Doctor is suddenly unappealing

Look, you all know what a big fan of the Doctor I am, but this freaks me out, and not in a good way:

doctorsbodypillow

This is a pillowcase for a body pillow — with, I guess, one Doctor on each side — created by and available from sincerely, twelve at Storenvy… or it would be, if it weren’t sold out.

I can’t quite put my finger on why I find this so disturbing. Is it that they’re fully clothed except for the lack of shoes? Is it something about the style of the illustration? Is it the cheesiness of it? (Though it’s nowhere near as cheesy as the Loki body pillow case. Or the Benedict Cumberbatch one.)

I just… ick.

The Doctor wears … socks?

I guess it makes sense that there are two Doctors. This way, a fan can have both an asexual and sexual Doctor, or any other combination that they might like.

And, sold out? Wow.

I fail to see the appeal of the character body-pillow at all. I know there are people who think they’re wonderful; if one of you is reading, would you be willing to try to explain it?

How funny. When I was a kid, a friend of mine made a life-size stuffed George (Harrison) to sleep with. Guess it’s easier to sleep with your crushes these days.

Definitely it’s the “fully clothed”. As the art is done, it actually looks like they’re standing up – probably they drew from an existing image – and the bed doesn’t come into focus for a couple of seconds. I don’t want to be lying down with someone who is essentially already standing up and is ready to go somewhere. They could have at least taken off DT’s coat. Ick is right.

I’m mostly weirded out by seeing the Doctor drawn in anime style. I love body pillows – I’m only really comfortable when I’m on my side with the upper knee elevated, which is really awkward when I’m resting my knee on a living person, therefore, my husband cuddles my back, while I put my knee on the pillow. My body pillow’s a six-foot transport truck and my husband’s jealous enough of sharing the bed with “Fluffimus Prime” already. I’d hate to have to justify a fan-crush pillowcase (or worse, lose it to him).

Polyester!!! ICK, Ick, ICK! I don’t think the anime style does much either.
