Doctor Who thing: magnificent concept art that we never saw in action

Matthew Savage is a conceptual designer who worked up some ideas for the Matt Smith era of the show. Amazing stuff:

Ooo, I love this one:

I want to see this episode:

dalekinvasion

(Larger version here.)

It’s not clear if all of these were submitted to the production, but what is clear is that his ideas are fantastic. Check out Savage’s blog for more cool Doctor Who designs, including a reimagining of Omega and a steampunk TARDIS interior for Tom Baker’s Doctor.

The Rain of the Daleks: a murder takes place on Skarro, and a lone cynical hard-drinking Dalek with a shrouded past is assigned to investigate.

His Cyberman redesign is also absolutely fantastic. Even manages to capture something of the disheveled soullessness of the original Cybermen.
