Nigel in Paris: pig at the opera


A visit to the national opera house, also known as the Palais Garnier, is a must while in Paris: the building, which is the setting of the many incarnartions of The Phantom of the Opera, is spectacular. And because it’s famous, Nigel had to see it.

Imagine all the fancy people in their fancy clothes swooping up and down these stairs:



In some places, coloring on the walls and ceiling is considered gauche. Not here:


This is new from my last visit: visitors can now go out onto the balcony…


…and see the city below:

    i loved the Chagall ceiling in the actual auditorium. the whole building is so baroque and OTT, you gotta love it.
