There are lots of reasons for this: none of them are good, and all of them are highly demotivating. I won’t go into them. Not now. Maybe later, though that will surely result in a spectacular meltdown of the burning-bridges sort. I’m not quite ready for that yet. I almost didn’t even post this.
But I will be trying to catch up in the coming weeks.
And I am trying to cheer up. That’s going to be harder than catching up. Maybe post some pictures of kittens or some other cute shit in the comments. That might help.

Here, have a polydactyl orange kitty.

Lots more at The Itty Bitty Kitty Committee, which you should be visiting daily if you aren’t already. :-)
Hang in there.
Those are some enormous mitts on an itty bitty kitty.
In spite of everything, good film is still getting made.
Here are two weirdly hybridised mallards, seen in my local stream:
And here is a bathing dunnock (not by me, but I’ve seen them do it): http://cdn1.arkive.org/media/37/37472424-F764-4B22-A9A6-B3D2947F4A80/Presentation.Large/Dunnock-bathing.jpg
Dumb question: How do I get multiple pics in one comment with text between? It didn’t seem to work for me, which is how I ended up posting three separate times.
All I did was drop the URLs into the text as I was writing it, and a few seconds later the thumbnail showed up below the editing area.
Ah, I was adding image files directly from my hard drive.
I don’t have a kitten. Would you take a gender-reversed Doctor?

Oh, and if you delay posting your Suicide Squad review, we may get fewer trolls in the comments section, so there’s that.
Yup, looks like Jillian Holtzmann (whom I likened to the Doctor in my review of GB).
Here’s Kate McKinnon talking about her cat:

“My son, who is a cat.” Love her so much!
Here is a Travesty of Epic proportions…
There is a restaurant in Noo Yawk that seems to think this is a bagel.
I SAID CHEER ME UP, DAMMIT!
That is criminal.
sorry
>.<
There is a cat in the barn in this photo. You just have to look through the door. Kinda like that sheep the Pilot drew for the Prince.

Once you see it, you can’t unsee it.
I can’t find it! augh!
When you’re ready to give up, here it is:

And here is evidence of the night a red-tailed hawk slept at my place:
And here is evidence of the night a red-tailed hawk slept at my place:
1) Delicious kitten chickwich
2) Mom, I just really need to focus on fashion school right now
3) *Hic* Hold my seed and watch this
4) Cluck you mom. Cluck. You.
That’s it. That’s all I got.
Hmm… the pictures are strangely displayed in a different order than I uploaded them. You can mix and match the lines, but let’s try these:
1) Does this hat go with my new fanny pack?
2) “I never dreamed of such happiness as this, while I was an ugly duckling.”
3) Fido loves me more than your father ever did!
4) Okay there, I did it. Where’s my clucking fifty bucks?
My meme generation skills leave much to be desired, but the pissed-off look in that chick’s eye as he stares down his oblivious mom still makes me chuckle.
So cute!
Know what’ll cheer you up? Two words: THE BRONZE.
I’m really curious what MaryAnn will think about The Bronze. I loved it, but until now, I thought I was the only person in the world who did. It’s not everyone’s type of humor:

I’m thinking about watching and reviewing this now that the Olympics are starting.
It’s okay, just watch Stranger Things instead. It’s at least fun.
It’s on my list. Even though I am *very* tired of stories about boys.
The main cast is actually split fairly evenly between men and women. Yes there are moments that made me role my eyes in regards to the younger characters but there is also some clever writing and role reversal that takes place. It’s not quite at Star Wars levels of female agency but it seems to try at least.
So it turns out that Chris Riddell is illustrating a new edition of The Lie Tree, a terrific historical fantasy that’s already won a few awards.

I’m posting the picture because it’s gorgeous, and because MaryAnn might enjoy the book, if she wants to take her mind off of Suicide Squad. The historical portions of the story have to do with Darwinism and the ways it made people question their religious faith and start to think about the idea of rights for women.
Here’s a little of the book:
