I’m on BBC World Service’s “The Arts Hour” on New Year’s Day

I’ll be appearing on the BBC World Service’s radio show “The Arts Hour” tomorrow. It airs several times over the next few days, and will be available on iPlayer anytime after the first broadcast. (Unlike BBC TV programs, the radio stuff is available globally, so you can listen no matter where you are.) The episode page with all the info you need is here.

I’m on for the full hour with fellow guest Tanzanian filmmaker Amil Shivji and host Nikki Bedi. The show was recorded before Christmas, so I can guarantee that we will have been talking about the best movies of the year, actors’ terrible onscreen accents, unsung production heroes of cinema, and a lot more. Enjoy!

That’s a really unusual format – it’s very rare IME for a show about film to explain things. Shame they pretty much limited you and Amil Shivji to short responses; many of those topics could have been spun off into interesting discussions.

We recorded a lot more than ended up on air.
