curated: Star Trek Continues E10: “To Boldly Go: Part I”

Still so much fun as the fan series winds down.

This is a sequel to the original series’ second pilot, “Where No Man Has Gone Before,” and features several callbacks to that episode, including its reference to Kirk’s middle name as something other than Tiberius. It’s written by Canadian SF writer Robert J. Sawyer (one of my favorites), and features Doctor Who’s Nicola Bryant — Peri in the classic series — in the main guest role. So much geekery!

Did you know Any Rydell, who plays the Romulan Commander, is the daughter of the original actress?

I did not know that, but it doesn’t surprise me, given this series’ attention to interesting casting.

I think you’d really like them. They’re *so much* like the original show.

It really is astonishing how close they are to the show’s look and feel. Others have attempted this sort of thing but none with this level of all around quality and professionalism.
