If three hours of Cillian Murphy in Oppenheimer wasn’t enough for you, check him out in the tasty treat The Party. From director Sally Potter, of Orlando fame, this 2017 black comedy is brutally snappy take on the classic British drawing-room farce, hauling it into the 21st century with a cutting takedown of the anxieties and hypocrisies of well-off London left-wingers. The incredible ensemble also features Kristin Scott Thomas, Patricia Clarkson, Emily Mortimer, Cherry Jones, Timothy Spall, and Bruno Ganz. And at a brisk 70 minutes, it’s more than twice as zippy as Oppenheimer. (Read my 2018 review.)
