For the next few days, I’ll help you blunt the January blues with movies that give off positive vibes about new beginnings and fresh starts.
Today: 2001’s Legally Blonde. The tale of Reese Witherspoon’s Elle Woods, who follows the college boyfriend who dumped her on his way to Harvard Law and a career in politics, hoping to win him back, could not have more a January feel even though it’s bright, sunny, and oh-so pink. For Elle jumps into her fresh start only to find her hopes squashed, and has to engineer yet another fresh start for herself… which succeeds beyond anything her prior wildest dreams could ever have imagined. Not only is this a cheery movie for cold gray winter days, it’s also a delightful reminder that we’re all allowed more than one do-over.
