Wait, where are the vampires?
Seriously, though, what are the odds that two movies about Abraham Lincoln — the man whom most Americans would agree is responsible for changing the idea, at least officially, that some people count as only three-fifths of a person because of the color of their skin — would be released in a year when the first less-than-peachy-skinned man is vying to be reelected to the same office Lincoln held?
Totally different take on his voice than how it’s often been portrayed.
It’s not like it was simply put through without question. Slavery was among the most hotly contended topics. They came to an impasse. Had the anti-slavery faction refused to compromise the Constitution wouldn’t have been ratified and there would have been no United States.
It’s more humorous than his other solemn movies as Lincoln was funny and telling the story of how Lincoln essentially wound up buying votes to pass the 13th Amendment is both funny and sad.
