I’ve never been a fan of Matthew McConaughey — quite the contrary, actually, for the most part — but I’m happy to see that he seems to be taking a new direction lately into more challenging and more interesting roles than Romantic Comedy Anti-Hero Who’s Way More Skeevy Than You Would Expect From Such a Supposedly Sympathetic Character.

I guess, if you accept that nature has given you the Well of Skeeve, it makes sense to play a character who’s skeevy-but-ambiguous rather than one who’s meant to be a plainly Good Thing.
