Oh man, there’s so much here that is screaming out to be satirized: celebrity worship, rampant consumerism, the mass drugging of children into submission… Will the movie pull it off?

i could have sworn I saw this DVD at one of the local libraries in Dallas last week. I guess the transition period between theatrical release and DVD release is shrinking to the point of ridiculousness… Either that or it’s going backwards…

Actually the version I saw available in my local library was a Lifetime movie with the same name which predated this movie. Kudos to Ms. Coppola for managing to produce a theatrical movie on the same subject matter, especially given the obstacles facing most female directors nowadays. However, I can’t help but wonder whether her famous family surname helped just a little in this regard.

Then again being related to the famous Barrymore acting clan has not helped Drew Barrymore avoid her share of cinematic bombs…
