Raze trailer: bitches be fightin’

Ah, they’re obviously using some new meaning of the word empowered that I had not previously been aware of. Being imprisoned and forced to fight lest those they love be harmed is now “empowering.” Got it.

Seeing as that ’empowered’ line comes from what is obviously a villain monologue, I wouldn’t necessarily take it as something the movie itself is endorsing – quite the opposite, in fact.

The concept is fair enough, if clichéd, but the execution will matter: does the frame linger lovingly over the violence and its aftermath?
