This is what Spike tells me about the miniseries:
Set in late 1920s in China, before Communist rule, Kung Fu Killer tells the story of White Crane (David Carradine), an orphaned son of Western missionaries who was raised as a Wudang monk to become a spiritual leader and master in martial arts, and his ultimate journey for revenge and justice. Beginning in the Shanghai underworld, Crane encounters Jane Marshall (Daryl Hannah) a lounge singer from Brooklyn, who is on a mission of her own to find her lost brother.
As always, Spike TV delivers the action but the story also shifts gears to a more personal drama.
So, you know, it’s a softer, gentler kind of Spike movie. With lots of action.
Oh, I hope Daryl Hannah doesn’t go all Willie Scott on us.
Kung Fu Killer debuts on Spike in two parts on August 17 and 18. Only! On! Spike!

Surely your intense and eloquently expressed dislike of the Kill Bill twofer plays tricks on your memory? In that Caradine kung fu vehicle Daryl Hannah kicked some pretty serious butt as the one-eyed Elle Driver, so perhaps you needn’t worry on her account.
Darryl Hannah is awesome in the Kill Bills. David Carradine… was pretty good in the second one, but I can never forgive him for stealing his signature role away from Bruce Lee. I know it wasn’t his decision, and I’m sure he’s a great guy in real life, but it’s all I can think of whenever I see his face. I guess I’m oversensitive to yellowface stuff as an asian american.
Perhaps most importantly, dramatic acting ability aside, he’s still pathetic at martial arts (even after he conveniently developed an interest in it). To be fair, so is Darryl Hannah, but she didn’t build her career on faux kung fu. I do like Elle Driver though. If they’re giving Caradine another shot, she might as well get her own series too, and David can play the sidekick.

The only thing that could make that look more badass is if Steven Seagal was in it.
You know, of course, that this movie / miniseries / whatever is going to suck, otherwise it wouldn’t be on Spike.
That being said. I’ll give it a few minutes.
This was a dark, mean great film. Good going Spike.
Kung Fu Killers is an instant cult classic. The action was sick and they literally didn’t pull any punches.
