Take a break from work: watch a movie trailer…

I nominate “It’s not you I don’t trust — it your private thoughts that give me pause” as one of the worst lines of the year. (And, oh yeah, I have been collecting notable quotes all year long, and I’ll post what I have so far soon.)

Oh my god, and then the movie turns into Thelma & Louise?

Hmm. Well, that is always one of the major problems with Tyler Perry’s movies: he can’t decide whether he’s making a comedy or a thriller or a drama or a melodrama or an action movie, so he throws bits of all of them into the mix.

Tyler Perry’s The Family That Preys opens wide September 12. And it won’t screen for critics beforehand.

Can’t forget the “dahlin.” It’s not you I don’t trust, dahhhhlin’…

I saw another trailer for this somewhere that was cut completely differently, much more comedic – this looked dark. Dark with a road trip in a baby blue convertible, apparently.

I heard Tyler Perry on NPR the other day. They asked why he chose not to screen the movie. He said it was because it didn’t make a difference to the audience size one way or the other so why should he?

What he’s saying is that he doesn’t care if his movies are crap, as long as people pay to see them.

This movie was damn good and I went see it. And I’m WHITE. And I paid to go see it and I think it was excellent. Don’t judge the preview if you never seen it.

See… here’s a good borderline example. Is this spam or isn’t it? erika, why did you think the movie was damn good? How is the movie better/different than previous Perry movies? Humor me, and demonstrate that you aren’t a cut and pastey studio drone.

And what, we can’t judge the *preview*? I think we sure as hell can. We should be aware that it may not be an accurate or fair representation of the movie, but we can certainly judge a preview on its own merits, or lack thereof. Previews are trying to sell us something. It’s entirely fair to judge what a preview appears to be trying to sell us.
