trailer break: ‘Valkyrie’

Take a break from work: watch a movie trailer…

Awesome! It looks like Bryan Singer has a new comic book superhero action movie this Christmas. Excellent!

Now, I admit I’m not familiar with the superfriends here, but then, I was never a mega-devoted reader of comic books. They’re a bit older than you usually see in a gang of vigilante crimefighters, but maybe that’s part of the reason for going for a Christmas crowd (rather than a summertime one), because maybe folks other than teenage boys will be interested in this one. Whatever their ages, they look great: their crimefighting costumes are fantastic! So snappy and stylish.

It looks like Tom Cruise is their leader, which is kinda cool, because you don’t expect the good guy to be wearing an eyepatch (that’s a bad-guy thing). The trailer doesn’t say what his crimefighting name is, but I bet it’s something really cool like The One-Eyed Avenger or The Visionary or Foresight. Man, Foresight would be like the coolest superhero name ever! Probably he has to wear the eyepatch because that other eye sees the future or something, which is very dangerous, of course, so he can only uncover it in moments of extreme need.

It’s cool how the trailer keeps the villain in shadows and we hardly see him and even then not till the very end of the trailer. I bet he’s completely evil, like the Joker, or something.

Is it me, or does that bit in the desert totally make you think of Raiders of the Lost Ark?

Oh man, this is gonna be the coolest comic book movie ever!

Valkyrie opens in the U.S. on December 25, and in the U.K. on January 23, 2009.

Well, I’m from Germany and I can’t watch it, too. Let me guess: The trailer contains swastikas?

Damn, that sucks. I didn’t realize YouTube censored things regionally.

What part of “World Wide Web” does these people not understand?

Copyright laws are going to have to change to take into account the global nature of information today…

Not available in Canada either.

And here I was thinking it was just Hulu that refused to acknowledge any world outside the USA.

Eh, I guess that’s what torrents are for.

Not to be pedantic, but most copyright law is actually governed by international treaties. I don’t know what’s with this regional stuff, unless YouTube is trying to push it’s regional sites at the expense of the “.com” site.
