The “coexisting on a train” bit reminded me of something I witnessed recently. I was on the A train when a busker entered and started playing Rhapsody in Blue on his clarinet, walking up and down the car. After a while, two other men came in with stools and conga drums, clearly setting up to busk themselves. I’d heard about busking turf wars and was prepared for these guys to get into a shouting match; instead, they shook hands and played together, clarinet jazz solo over African drums, to everyone’s delight. Afterwards they introduced themselves to each other; the conga players were from the Bronx, the clarinetist was from France.

And yeah, that’s the future I want. When someone new comes in with their music, just add them to the song.

I’m not entirely clear which part you’re confused about, but the meme (as discussed in the Wired article in the link) was created to make fun of conservatives who go into a panic when they see people who aren’t Christian or straight or white.
