retro trailer: ‘Passport to Pimlico’

Take a look back at an old trailer…

This charming 1949 movie is about a district in London just after WWII that decides it’s an independent nation, and sets up separating itself from England. It’s a hilarious satire on the deprivations of the postwar period and the frustrations Londoners were experiencing with their government at the time.

Passport to Pimlico is available on DVD in Region 1 and Region 2.

It is a wonderful film…in fact that period of Ealing films (Ladykillers, Man in the White Suit, Lavender Hill Mob, Kind Hearts and Coronets to name a few) are all wonderful.
