trailer break: ‘Valhalla Rising’

Take a break from work: watch a trailer…

I saw this film a few weeks ago and I’m still trying to figure out whether I like it or not. That’s a good thing: I like being confounded like that. Review soon, I hope…

Valhalla Rising is now playing in limited release in the U.S., and is available to watch on IFC on Demand; no Canadian release date has been announced. It now available on DVD in Region 2 from Amazon U.K., with cover art that hilariously and misleadingly suggests that this is a film very much like 300:

That’s the guy who played the bond villian in Casino Royal! Sweet! He must really have a problem with the one eye then. Makes him seem more bad-ass me thinks.

The trailer makes it seem reminiscent of “Gladiator”. Warrior driven by vengeance, etc. etc. But the poster does look a lot like “300”. Heh.

Bronson was phenomenal.. but there is waaaay too much CGI blood in this trailer. Luckily that is not a dealbreaker!

Mads is definitely a badass in this flick – just watch the first few minutes. But then you better get some NoDoze… the trip to Hell is confoundingly slow at times.
