Hmm, lessee: a movie written and directed by a woman — Floria Sigismondi — about a bunch of young women doing something awesome and unexpected and for themselves, not for men or for babies. Will this kick box office ass? Or will it be this year’s Whip It: a good movie poorly marketed and hence underperforming, hence perpetuating the notion that audiences don’t want to see movies about women doing something other than fretting over weddings?
The Runaways opens in the U.S. and Canada on March 19; no U.K. release date has been announced.
