It’s like someone looked at The Flintstones and thought, Love the prehistoric vibe, but it’s just too intellectual…
I love the insightful commentary into the lost distant mists of Cro-Magnon life, like how dads are idiots and mother-in-laws are horrible and girls love shoes. It’s so unexpected!

This trailer makes me sad. The director, Chris Sanders, is a brilliant animator who directed Lilo and Stitch and worked on several of the classic Disney cartoons. He’s been posting beautiful production drawings and storyboards from The Croods on his website (http://www.chrissandersart.com). (He also draws an amazing comic strip called Kiskaloo.) Every time I look at the production designs for the film, I think it’s going to be the best movie of the year. Then I see another trailer and think, “Yabba dabba doo.”
I’m not even going to look at the trailer. Chris Sanders has a lot of goodwill built up in advance, and I don’t want stupid marketing to spoil that.
Plus, the damn NAME. They REALLY did that? Really? Ugh.
I’m missing something- is it slang?
Are you not familiar with the word “crude”?
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/crude?s=t
Oh, homophones. Right. *slaps forehead*
Let me guess.
The message of the movie is follow your dreams/heart *and* to be yourself.
Err… not available in the US. I’m surprised I’m the first one to mention this.
Just noticed your comment, but… it plays fine via a US IP address. Perhaps they changed the settings on YouTube for this upload.
I’ll admit to a slight smile at “try hiding from it in the tall dry grass”.
Yeah, it’s visually great, but…
I wish this was made by Mel Gibson, with all the characters speaking proto-indo-euorpean, graphic depictions of shoe production process, and controversy.
From the director of How To Train Your Dragon
And the writer of Space Chimps!!
