trailer break: ‘Brighton Rock’

Nice girl falls in love with a bad boy. It’s adapted from a novel by Graham Greene, so it’s got pedigree. Carey Mulligan was all set to play the nice girl till she dropped out to do Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps... We’ll see if she made the right choice. She surely was paid more for the Oliver Stone movie, but she barely had anything to do in it; this one looks like it might have been more creatively satisfying. But I guess creative satisfaction isn’t everything when you’re hoping to become a big star...

Brighton Rock opens in the U.K. on February 4; a U.S release is rumored for summer; no Canadian release date has been announced.
