trailer break: ‘Just Buried’

Take a break from work: watch a movie trailer…

Adorable, in a Six Feet Under meets Pushing Daisies meets the Coen Brothers black-comedy kind of way. Which is usually my kind of thing, of course.

Apparently this has been playing as a midnight movie here in New York for a couple of weeks, but I completely missed hearing about it. If you’re in Los Angeles, though, you’re in luck: Just Buried debuts as a midnight movie tonight at the Laemmle Sunset 5 in West Hollywood, and it even comes with its own Dead Celebrity costume contest: the first 31 people to show up in costume get free admission, and there will be prizes for the best dead celeb.

I’ve just gotten a screener of the film — too late to review for today, alas — but I’ll take a look at it ASAP and let you know whether it’s dead or alive. Jay Baruchel was a hoot in Tropic Thunder — he’s the geeky funeral home guy here — and Rose Byrne (the scary undertaker chick here) is always good, so it’ll be good times, hopefully.

Just Buried is now playing in the U.S. in limited release; no U.K. release date has been announced yet.
