trailer break: ‘Yes Man’

Take a break from work: watch a movie trailer…

I pretty much hated this the first time around, when it was called Liar Liar. Of course, Liar Liar made $180 million in 1998. I also hated the last time Carrey was so outrageously, unthinkingly extreme on screen, in 2003’s Bruce Almighty, and that one made $242 million. Now, Tom Shadyac did not direct Yes Man, as he did those other two, but I’ve yet to hear a single person saying anything remotely like, “Hey, let’s go see that new Tom Shadyac movie.” So it appears that it’s Jim Carrey being a raving idiot that people really really like to watch. And it seems how much they like that has increased over the years. Therefore, Yes Man will make $325 million.

I wish I could say that was a joke…

Also: Way to get the product placement right in the trailer. That’s so cool. I bet Warner Bros.’ mother is so proud.

Yes Man opens in the U.S. on December 19 and in the U.K. on December 26.
