trailer break: ‘G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra’ Super Bowl teaser

Take a break from work: watch a movie trailer…

Ooo, the Eiffel Tower is gonna collapse! How very Independence Day.

I must be getting old: the most exciting things in this trailer to me are Christopher Eccleston as the villain and Dennis Quaid in uniform. Is it too much to expect that the movie will consist entirely of them yelling at each other, and then maybe giving in to their irresistible desire for some hot smooching?

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra opens in the U.S. on August 7 and in the U.K. on August 14.

I must be getting old too, then. And yeah, that IS too much to expect, but it’s not too much to dream about! :D

I couldn’t care less about this movie, I’m just surprised that it took this long to get a big budget movie made.

Saw it online last week. Looks better than the Transformers one. At least I can make things out here.

The Transformers clip is meticulously broken down here.

Looks like some shit will get all blowed up in that flick. I’m in, though I don’t expect the brain to end up over taxed. Can’t say I saw much Kung Fu Grip in the trailer though. Hope I won’t have to rely on my memories of the trusty 12 incher to get me through…

Not sure about this. Some of it looks cool, but it’s seems like a live action ‘Team America’. This movie should have been made in the 80’s.

Personally I loved Transformers so if it’s as good I’ll be pleased.

I am totally with you on your plan for the GI Joe screenplay-possibly with similiar Channing Tatum/Joseph Gordon Levitt subplot?

I don’t about you, but for women of a certain age, Dennis Quaid earned lifetime fandom with a certain scene in the Big Easy co starring Ellen Barkin..

Hmmm…I’m a child of the ’80s who loved GI Joe but the trailer’s giving me a “this-movie-is-going-to-suck” vibe. Looks pretty generic, really. Matrix-y costumes, national monuments getting destroyed, etc. Not to mention the late-summer release date..hope I’m wrong.

Three words:
No Lady Jaye.
Seven words:
No Lady Jaye/Flint Unresolved Sexual Tension
Uncertain count of words:
No humorous subplot with Lady Jaye finding out Destro is her third cousin twice removed. I loved that episode!
Also, no cameo appearance by the Joe sniper AKA Fumbles.

I’m gonna hate that movie…

No planes blowing up and the always-visible parachute afterwards.

During the Super Bowl when this trailer came on, approximately 3 seconds into it, I declared, not knowing the movie’s title, “Well, this movie’s going to suck.” And then Dennis Quaid appeared, and I was even more certain of that fact. I think the only Dennis Quaid movie I ever liked was Frequency. Dennis Quaid only ever seems authentic when he’s talking about how much he loves baseball. Every other role, he seems like he’s trying too hard to be someone he’s not.

The hot smooching line cracked me up.

… now I’m going to be thinking that the entire movie. B)
