trailer break: ‘The Boat That Rocked’

Take a break from work: watch a trailer…

Ah, so the Internet generation didn’t invent piracy after all?

These guys were like the bloggers of their day: independent voices saying whatever they wanted outside the auspices of corporate control. Good for them.

I’m hearing some not-so-good things about this from the British contingent among my readers here, but I can’t imagine missing this one anyway. Not with Bill Nighy, who can make standing stock still with a blank face hilarious. And Philip Seymour Hoffman, he’s like the Gene Hackman of our day: he’s good in everything.

I might have to buy the DVD of this one from Amazon U.K. — it’ll surely be available before this even opens in the U.S.

The Boat That Rocked is now playing in the U.K.; it opens in the U.S. on August 28.

The movie has been released in Australia as well, and I have to agree with your British readers, the movie sunk!! Sure, the individual performances are good/even great, but they should have left at least 45 minutes of it on the cutting room floor.

(awaiting more of your Dr Who goodness)
