“Jon & Kate Being Investigated for Child Labor Complaint”:
Jon and Kate Gosselin are going through a difficult time in their marriage – and now they may have even more trouble to deal with.
The Pennsylvania labor department is investigating whether the hit TLC show Jon and Kate Plus 8 is complying with the state’s child labor laws, a spokesman tells PEOPLE.
“I can confirm that our bureau of labor law compliance is conducting an investigation as they do whenever they receive a charge,” said Christopher Manlove, a spokesman for the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry.
Not that I wish for any children to be harmed, of course. I do wish for people who exploit children — especially, most heinously, their own children — to be called to task on it.
But them almost simultaneously, I found this:

The Southern California woman who gave birth to the world’s longest-surviving set of octuplets has signed a deal to star in a reality television series, her lawyer said Sunday.
Nadya Suleman, who gave birth to the six boys and two girls in January and also has six other children, agreed to be filmed for a proposed television show by 3Ball Prods., attorney Jeff Czech said.

yes, it’s wrong to take pleasure in this particular thing… though I’ll admit to a wide grin when I saw a promo for it while watching International House Hunters this evening — unshaven Jon complaining about how all this stuff has hurt his relationship with his wife, and an overly made-up Kate crying.
It’s a good thing there’s no such thing as hell, or I’d be going!
I find it hard to believe that TLC, with 3 such shows on air right now, would not follow child labour laws. For those who wish nothing but bad things for Jon and Kate’s show, i’m guessing you’ll have to search for something else to satisfy your schadenfreude.
Human beings are not designed to have litters. Fertility treatments lead to litters. And if it happens, no one needs to benefit from them, be it a “reality show” or a sideshow tent.
(No, I don’t have children; I’m sure some people are breathing a sigh of relief at that.)
Can child services please investigate the Duggers? 18 kids and I don’t think they’re done yet. I don’t care if they’re following child labor laws…it’s so wrong and harmful for so many reasons.
